Below we are describing Aloo Tikki Recipe easy to prepare at home, by using ingredients that can be easily found in your neighborhood. However, we would like to repeat once again that Aloo Tikki Recipe prepared by different chefs can differ somewhat according to their personal preference, hence the reader’s discretion is advised.

 

Recipe for Aloo Tikki

Ingredients used in Aloo Tikki Recipe

1) Potatoes – 3 (Large-sized ones)

2) White bread slices – 2 in number

3) Green Chilli – 1 in number (finely chopped)

4) Amchoor Powder (Dried Mango powder) – 1/4th teaspoon

5) Chaat Masala Powder – ½ teaspoon

6) Powdered Black Salt – 1/4th teaspoon (or as per taste)

7) Roasted Cumin seeds – ½ teaspoon

8) Coriander leaves – 20 grams (finely chopped)

9) Pudina Leaves – 10 grams (in paste form)

10) Ginger – ½ inch (coarsely grated and fried a little bit)

11) Edible oil – 3 to 4 tablespoons

How to Make Aloo Tikki at Home?

  • Put a cooker on a medium flame burner. Add 3 cups of normal water to it and let it boil.
  • Wash the potatoes thoroughly in water and put it in the boiling water in the cooker mentioned above. Next, close the lid of the cooker. Wait for 6 to 7 whistles, till the potatoes become soft. Later the burner is switched off and the cooker allowed to cool at the normal room temperature.
  • Take out the potatoes from the cooker and check if the potatoes have softened or not. If it is not yet softened then it is again put back in the cooker and allowed to boil, and wait for another 3 to 4 whistles, so the potatoes are sufficiently boiled.
  • Next, take out the potatoes from the cooker and let it cool down. Once it becomes cool then peel them and then keep them on a plate.

  • Next, mash these potatoes properly.
  • Take 2 slices of white bread on a plate and remove the corners of the bread slices and discard that portion. Sprinkle little water on the remaining parts of the bread slices, just for making them softer. However, do not sprinkle too much water.
  • Now add these bread slices (which are later mashed and shown in this form in the picture below) and other ingredients, which are mentioned above (except oil) with the previously described boiled potatoes (which are later mashed).

  • Then again mash the mixture nicely together and make a dough like the one used to prepare Chapatis in Indian homes.
  • Divide the dough mass into many smaller equal-sized portions, according to individual choice, and give the shape of round balls.
  • Take these round balls, one by one on the palm of the left hand, and give little pressure from above with the help of the fingers of the right hand to flatten the ball.
  • Put a non-stick pan on a medium flame burner and pour the mentioned amount of oil into it and allow it to become hot. Then put 3 to 4 of these flattened potato mixture balls (prepared previously) on it and fry them gently from all sides, till they become golden brown.

  • Later, take them out from the hot pan and place them on a plate. This brings us to the end of the Recipe of Aloo Tikki, which can be easily prepared at home.
