Recipe for Aloo Gobi is one of the most popular vegetarian recipes in India, which is made mainly from potato (Aloo) and cauliflower (Gobi) thus combining the nutrition and taste of these two easily available vegetables. In the Indian subcontinent, these two vegetables are almost found throughout the year, which is again one of the reasons that the dish is so popular. Although it has to be mentioned that the use of fresh cauliflower, which is very easily available in the winters, certainly improves the final result of Aloo Gobi Recipe, as far as taste is concerned.

 

The Recipe for Aloo Gobi can be either of gravy type or the Aloo Gobi Recipe may be of a dry variety. The Recipe of Aloo Gobi curry generally needs mostly – Onion, Ginger, Garlic, Tomato & Green Chilli for preparation. However, besides this, there are many different ingredients, which can be used, thereby changing the Recipe of Aloo Gobi that is used for the preparation.

However, this easy Aloo Gobi Recipe can also be used by those who are thinking of preparing this dish at home.

Ingredients Needed For Aloo Gobi Sabzi Recipe

  1. Gobi (Cauliflower) – 300 grams (Only florets are taken)
  2. Aloo (Potato) – 4 medium-sized one.
  3. Amul Butter – 2 tablespoons
  4. White Flour – 1 tablespoon
  5. Milk – 1 cup
  6. Green chili – 1 in number (finely chopped)
  7. Lemon Juice – 1 teaspoon (extracted from a lemon)
  8. Salt – 1/4th teaspoon for Sabzi and ½ teaspoon for blanching
  9. Black pepper powder – 1 big pinch
  10. Water – 2 cups
  11. Cheese – 20 grams (Totally optional – not used here)

How To Make Aloo Gobi At Home

1) Cutting Vegetables in Aloo Gobi Recipe

  • First, peel the potatoes and cut it longitudinally and then diagonally so that 4 pieces are available from 1 potato. Similarly cut all the potatoes. Next, take out the florets of Cauliflower & cut them into medium-sized pieces.

 

2)  Blanching Step in Recipe of Aloo Gobi

  • Now put a pan on a medium flame burner, and add 2 cups of water in it and let it boil after adding ½ teaspoon salt in it.
  • Next, blanch the cut florets of cauliflower for 5 minutes in this boiling water. After 5 minutes, the florets are taken out from the boiling water and dipped in normal water for 3 minutes. Later take these out from the water and keep it aside.
  • In a similar way blanch potato for 5 minutes in boiling water and then dip in normal water for 3 minutes and later take it out of this water and keep it in the same plate where the florets have been kept.

 

3) Preparation of White Sauce in Recipe for Aloo Gobi

  • Next, a white sauce is made. For that, put a non- stick small pan on a low flame burner and add 1 tablespoon butter in it. When the butter starts melting then add 1 teaspoon white flour in this butter and stir constantly so that no lumps are formed.
  • When the flour gets fried then take out the pan from the burner and milk (in the amount mentioned previously) is added slowly with the flour, but keep on stirring the mixture constantly, otherwise, a lump would form. After adding milk in it again put the pan on a low flame burner and stir constantly and make a smooth mixture.
  • Next, take out the pan from the burner and keep it aside and let it cool at room temperature.

4) Final Steps in Aloo Gobi Recipe Easy Preparation

  • Now put another non- stick pan on a low flame burner. Add ½ tablespoon butter in it and let it warm. Once the butter gets melt due to heat then add Cauliflowers and potatoes in it and fry them till its rawness disappears and a nice aroma starts to come out.
  • Next, add chopped green chili in it and stir the contents for 1 minute. Then transfer the previously prepared white sauce into this pan present over a low flame burner and the contents allowed to boil for 2 minutes. However, keep the contents stirring continuously or they will get burned.

  • Then switch off the burner and take off the pan along with its contents from the burner. Let it cool moderately in room temperature and then 1/4th teaspoon salt, a big pinch of black pepper powder, ½ teaspoon lime juice and finally leftover ½ tablespoon butter are added to it. Mix the contents uniformly.
  • Now transfer the contents to a serving bowl. Aloo Gobi Recipe preparation is now complete and the dish is ready to be served to your guests.

  • However, to make this dish tastier, a small modification to the Recipe of Aloo Gobi can be made in the form of adding cheese to the preparation. For this, 1 teaspoon finely chopped cheese (20 grams) would be added in the step where butter, salt, black pepper powder & lime juice is added to the preparation. However, adding cheese is optional, and we have not used this in our preparation.
  • Aloo Gobi can be served with vegetable pulao, jeera rice, laccha paratha, puri, chapati and even with plain rice.
